Questions & Answers In Chapter 6 Methodological Preferences we learn the key term called methodology. Methodology is the process of doing research. This cartoon highlights the socratic method which is used to learn by asking questions until you reach the correct answer. The student humorously jokes that the method is just like searching the web which implies that you have to take a long time digging around to find the information that suits your questions. This depicts how there can be multiple different types of research methods that help us problem solve and learn more about the real world. I relate to this cartoon from my experience as a manager planning an anniversary party for my past job. Organizing an event takes so much time, effort, and communication. I found myself asking endless questions to my boss, trying to grasp her vision. At first, she was unsure, which left me confused and stranded about the direction. After about 100 questions and much going back and forth we finally set the details and agreed on how the party should look. This process reminded me of the cartoon and asking questions until everything becomes clear.
